What is a B Box? A B Box is short for Buffalo Box, which is a valve between the city water main and a dwelling. It consists of a hollow round tube, made out of cast iron. This hollow round tube allows the INSERTION of a buffalo valve key used to turn on and off the city water to the dwelling. If you don't pay your water bill the city will come out and shut off your water via the buffalo box. It could also be used when a repair is needed inside the dwelling and the valves by the water meter are not working properly.
