What is a B Box? A B Box is short for Buffalo Box, which is a hollow tube that connects to a VALVE BETWEEN the city water main line and the water meter INSIDE A dwelling. It consists of a hollow round tube, made out of cast iron. The B Box is CONNECTED to a valve called the roundway. The round way is the actual valve THAT turns the water service on and OFF BETWEEN the city main water and the dwelling. The B BOX ALLOWS the INSERTION of a buffalo valve key used to turn the round way on and off. If you don't pay your water bill the city will come out and shut off your water via the buffalo box. It could also be used when a repair is needed inside the dwelling and the valves by the water meter are not working properly.
